Hello writers!

Co-Prosperity started an initiative in 2021 with the help of our Co-Pro Council that commissions writers to produce responses that document/review/analyze/discuss/talk about their experiences of our exhibitions!

Texts are commissioned to be about 800 words, and are partly produced before the exhibition. This allows for the opportunity for writers and artists to use their work for promotional materials and exhibition statements as the show is announced/hyped-up.

Writers will receive a stipend of $225, paid upon completion of the text.

How it works:

When Co-Prosperity finalizes our exhibitions calendar for the year, we send out accepted proposals to our bank of writers to see who they would be interested in working with. After seeing our writers’ interest, our exhibiting artists choose from their pool of interested writers to have someone write about their show.

Here is a rough timeline:

  • Four months ahead of the opening, the writer and artist connect directly and are in conversation.

  • Two months ahead of the opening, the first section (usually descriptive text) which can be used for promotion and vinyl is due. This can be a separate piece of writing from your final entry!

  • A month ahead of the opening, the remaining text is due. Min 600 words, up to 1000 words.
