Third Coast listening events (often called "Listening Rooms") present unforgettable audio work in a public setting -- a theater, a coffee shop, a bar -- anywhere with a good set of speakers and where people can gather together and listen. Each event features a special guest and includes a diverse selection of documentary audio work. It’s a little like a book club for radio.

Studs Rules: A People’s ShortDoc Election Event

"If I did one thing I'm proud of, it's to make people feel that together, they count,” said the legendary Studs Terkel.

We hope you’ll join us to make your voice heard! Hosted by Re:sound’s Gwen Macsai, this evening will celebrate the finalists of this year’s ShortDocs Challenge, which invited anyone and everyone to produce short audio stories inspired by Studs’ mighty curiosity. Join us to listen to the candidates – by turns delightful and heartbreaking – weigh their merits, vote for your favorite, and leave with an “I voted!” sticker (of course).

Special guests will include our partners at the Studs Terkel Radio Archive from WFMT and outstanding ShortDocs producers from the Chicago area. Arrive at 6pm for food trucks and drinks, stay to mingle, debate, and fill out your ballot.
